Parker's Surgery

April 1st Parker had his second surgery! Parker was born with a cute little dimple on his chest. Little did we know that underneath that cute little dimple was a cyst that would cause us lots of grief! The cyst became badly infected with an abcess when he was about 7 months. At that time they put him on a couple of strong antibiotics and we had to do dressing changes for 2 weeks on it. It was such a pain! The doc said if it flared up again, we would have to surgically remove it. Well, it didn't give us any problems until recently when it got infected again. He went through ANOTHER course of antibiotics and we met with a Pediatric surgeon who agreed it should be removed. We went to an outpatient surgery center for his eartubes, but this procedure we had to do at Phx Children's Hospital. The day of Parker's surgery there were about 10 other little kids getting surgeries too.... they ranged from as young as him to teenagers. One little girl was on her fifth surgery, there was a child getting open heart surgery, a boy who was fighting some kind of cancer, and in fact, our surgery was pushed back an hour due to a complication that occurred during some kid's procedure. Needless to say, seeing all that put this little procedure into perspective for us. Rob and I felt SO GRATEFUL that Parker is a healthy little boy! Here is Parker getting ready at the hospital...
